The Central Pipeline

In high school, I was extremely fortunate to get to create a news show alongside two talented students, Chase and Landry. I wanted to devote this page to a couple of my favorite episodes, in case you ended up here and haven't seen the show.

I think this one is my all-time favorite:

Throughout the show's run, we had constantly struggled to limit the episodes' length, so this week we decided to completely cut the news segment and cold open. Instead, we used all of our alotted time to cook lemon-lavender poundcake, and we occasionally discussed the news. This one was super fun to record, and since we recorded so much raw footage, I got to make most of the stylistic choices in the edit. Overall, this one had a lot of care put into it, and it was also one of the most enjoyable episodes to produce.

Another one of my favorites:

This was our first fully-scripted episode, though a large amount of the script was changed or cut during production. We also went for an overproduced and spooky version of our intro theme, which we made with help from an audio student at MTSU named Walt. The show's intros have always been a point of pride for me, as we produced all four of them ourselves (or five, if you include the Valentine's day harp intro that Faith played). This one is probably the best of all of the ones we produced. I also love that we started trying to build up lore for the series here, which, due to the pandemic, never really had the grand resolution we were anticipating.

Overall, I had a ton of fun working on the show, and I thought I ought to put this page up in case anyone hasn't seen it before. It was pretty formative for me, and I learned so much from it that a website devoted to my projects would absolutely be incomplete without mention of it.
